Eternity (2023)

I chose the text of "Eternity" based on its ambiguous yet vivid description of death, and how it connects to my own grapple with mortality as I came into adulthood. It doesn’t exactly paint a picture of pearly gates or an endless void, but looks at life as one droplet in the pool of infinite time. Of course, there are many with this outlook who take it pessimistically. But this poem takes a positive turn at the end, saying that this an endless day will forever drown out the eternal darkness of night. Although, is there much of a difference?
