Program Notes
"The Procession" is the first piece of a larger collection of pieces that explore the different parts of the Anglican Church service called "The Eucharist Collection." Each piece follows my experience working as a choral scholar and my reactions to the practices of the service, and the environment of the church. The Procession encapsulates the stressful nature of walking while singing, as the sound of footsteps and the organ swirls around the listener. The video features these religious elements as well as images of nature, showing their similarities in force, grandeur, power, and imposing presence. However, it initially takes these elements in a supernatural direction, as nothing you can see or hear seems organic, until everything opens up in a moment of clarity.
